All,
I'm fairly new to dxl, and I was wondering if it was possible to export modules from DOORS into excel(xlsx) format. I notice that this is possible in the module (File > Export > Microsoft Office > Excel). One of my coworkers advise against this and outputting to csv. My question is that is this possible? And is there a way to export a specific view?

Re: DXL - exporting modules to xlsx format I haven't used it recently but if I recall this works pretty well for exporting from DOORS to Excel. Maybe worth playing around with it. http://galactic-solutions.com/downloads/GalacticDownloadExcel.htm |
Re: DXL - exporting modules to xlsx format If you are asking about the export funtions supplied witth DOORS, the Microsoft Office / Excel export creates an Excel file, but the Export / Spreadsheet creates either a CSV (comma separated) or TSV (tabulator separted) values file. If you are asking on how to do this in DXL, the Galactic Solutions Excel export is a fully realized DXL solution, but complex. For the CSV export you can search this forum. For menu based exports you can select a specific view and DOORS functions (typically) will export everything in that view (objects / columns). If you are doing a DXL export script then of course the export can be either view column or module attribute based, sky is the limit. |
